Olivia (GSRNE #84) and Makwa (GSRNE #123)

Olivia (5) and Makwa (7) were both adopted from GSRNE.  They are both longcoats and get lots of compliments wherever we go. They are best friends.

Susie and Trenton

Susie was not rescued through a rescue league,  but we did rescue her or perhaps she rescued us.  She came from a very difficult situation.  She had been a true “junk yard dog.”  She had been used as a guard dog for the junk yard. She’s a great catch, because that’s how she had to get her food.  It was tossed to the dogs, and whoever got it, ate.  Susie was stabbed, shot in the foot, (she doesn’t have full use of the joint) and she was maced.  For all that she has been through, she is still a gentle, loving soul. She is wonderful with children, loves us unconditionally, and waits impatiently at the window for Mommy (me) to get home from work.

Wendy (GSRNE #79) and Jake

Wendy belonged to a family with children and had learned some neat tricks.  When she was three years old, the family left her at a kill shelter and said there were “moving” and couldn’t keep her. When Janice went to evaluate a male GSD, she saw Wendy, who was scheduled to be euthanized.  The ACO said Wendy didn’t care about meeting new people and barked when other dogs got near her. Janice saw the good qualities in Wendy and brought her into GSRNE in 1999.  Wendy was adopted by a couple whose children are grown.  Now there are grandkids, and Wendy seems to welcome having children in her life once again.

Shiloh

I am a volunteer at the Taunton Animal Shelter and my submission is a wonderful GSD currently at the TAUNTON ANIMAL SHELTER.  His name is SHILOH.  The address of the shelter is 821 W. Water St., Taunton, MA.

Shiloh is a stray who came into the shelter and was never claimed.  He is approximately 6 years old.  He is not only very handsome, but the most loving and sweet dog.  He is very affectionate and loves being with people.  He loves to play with tennis balls.  He enjoys spending quiet times with someone – just enjoying each other’s company. He tested positive for heartworm and the shelter has treated him.  He is also now up to date on his vaccinations and has been neutered. Shiloh is a wonderful example of the many dogs found in shelters and rescues that are looking for warm and loving homes and a family to call their very own.  He would be the perfect addition to any home and would make your family complete.  “To know him, is to love him.”  Shiloh is an exceptional dog – as beautiful inside as he is outside.  There are many GSDs available for adoption – all ages.  Photographing Shiloh was a pleasure and the opportunity to get to know him has been a wonderful experience.

Hannah

Hannah is my six year old German Shepherd.  We have been companions since she was seven weeks of age.  She loves traveling, hiking and swimming, but her favorite sport is soccer. She is an amazing goalie.   The portrait photo enclosed was taken a few hours after we were swimming.  I was relaxing trying to capture bluebirds with my camera when the perfect subject was right in front of me!
