Gretchen is a very pretty, medium-small female GSD who is very
friendly with people. She is a total love!
Gretchen
would like to live with somebody who is home a lot - she came from a
backyard breeder's home where she'd been tied up to a tree for many
lonely years. She spent 2 more years after that just kenneled around
other dogs. Now that she has been in a foster home with GSRNE, she
has truly blossomed into the nice dog she is today, and she has
learned that she LOVES human company! Gretchen bonds closely and
would like to find someone to make the center of her life. So if you work at home, work
part-time, or you're retired, Gretchen would love to live with you!
Her foster mom refers to her as "Sweet Gretchen." Here is what
she says about Gretchen: "Gretchen is
eating well, enjoying a lot of outside exercise, and is getting
along nicely with an abundance of adult company I have had recently.
She loves her daily body massage and girl-talk! She does has her
moments of super energy, but generally is calm, and she is sound
asleep by early evening. She likes to take frequent short naps in
her crate with the door open."
This dog can
be around other dogs, but does tend to get overexcited and play a
bit roughly. We're guessing she never learned how to play gently
when she was younger, and just gets over-stimulated. So she would
probably be best off as an only dog, or possibly with a confident
male dog who would ignore her silliness. She does behave just fine
if you meet up with a friendly loose dog while out on a walk, so
that is not a problem. Gretchen is
not cat-friendly (she thinks they're wind-up toys for her), so it's
best she go to a no-cats home.
Gretchen is
very happy, adorable girl who wants to do the right thing. And she
can be so wiggly-friendly when she meets people! Our volunteers have
fallen in love with Gretchen and we are sure you will, too!!
