Winter 2007-08.
There
have been a few changes to my house to accommodate the needs of the dogs, but
especially Millie and any future seniors that come through here. I'll let Millie
show you what we've done so far.

"Do you remember when I first saw my new home, with the hard cold slippery
smelly concrete floor? Hardly the princess palace that I had imagined!"
"Well, now I have a safer new vinyl floor with safer steps, too. But after those
long daytrips,
I'll usually wait for my mom to help me inside."
"This floor is so much better for me because I can walk freely without fear of
slipping now."
"And it's also a lot warmer on my hiney."
"I can even walk to my water bowl whenever I'm thirsty now."
"Then, if I feel a little nippy, I just crawl into my new heated bed to warm up
my aching joints."
"Every queen needs her throne, and mom makes sure Matsi and Duke respect this."
"Us dogs have a separate bedroom now, with all our own supplies there, too."
"Hey, can you guys quiet down, I'm trying to speak to my 'other' friends."
"Wait 'till you see how mom fixes up my special bed."
"I have this really cool bolster bed but it's flat now because I ruined the
inside cushion
due to bladder issues. Hopefully, my doctor on Tuesday can help
with this."
"So mom takes a vinyl covered cushion that's water resistant and places it on
the top of the bed."
"Then on top of that she places absorbent washable pads for extra protection."
"Then the finale, a really warm soft fleece blanket, of which I have many."
"The back of the bed is surrounded by fleece to keep the drafts off me, and then
there is
a big cushion to one end for added protection. The pen gate closes
while I'm asleep."
"Then in the morning, if my bladder isn't cooperative, mom simply rinses down
the vinyl cushion and changes the bed linens."
"Don't you wish you had my bed, hehe?"
"So Matsi and Duke are the pampered pooches upstairs in mom's office/living
room..."
"...while Nannie Millie catches up on her beauty rest for the night."
"Shhhhhh. The queen is sleeping."
