If you're looking for a dog that is on the petite side for
a German Shepherd, who is VERY affectionate and likes to
play, look no further! Heidi might be just the right dog
for you!
Heidi looks like a small German Shepherd, around 45-48 lbs.
She probably has a little something else in her, but when
you look at her, you think "mostly German Shepherd." Heidi
grew up in a household from puppy hood where she was
utterly adored by her former Mom. However, Heidi has sadly
spent the past several years kenneled outdoors a lot with
another dog because her former Mom was ill. Heidi really
wants to be part of the family again - she craves human
companionship.
While Heidi did live with another female dog and seems
amenable enough to living with another dog, she really
prefers to have the bulk of the human attention from her
special person. This may be a result of being kenneled
outside with little human attention for those past few
years. She seems starved for that deep bond and connection
of love from people.
Heidi enjoys running and playing with gentle, playful dogs,
like her foster sibling who is a GSD mix, which is quite
nice. We've noticed that Heidi seems overwhelmed by
dominant dogs in the home and barks at them, begging them
to stay away. Heidi is *not* good with kitties, so needs a
home without cats.
Heidi is technically a Senior dog, but you'd never know it!
She's quite playful and spunky, always alert for a chance
to be loved by you, and because of her smaller size and
probably mix status, we suspect she'll have a
longer-than-usual lifespan, vs. most German Shepherd Dogs.
Heidi likes to be active with you around the house or be
out playing in and sniffing around the yard while you're
gardening or doing lawn work, or just puttering around the
place. She is happy to settle and relax though, after she
enjoys some healthy exercise. Her foster Mom says that
Heidi loves to chew bones while you watch TV or make
dinner, so that's convenient.
Heidi does many endearing things with her people and with
visitors in general - she gives kisses, wants petting, and
does some amazingly cute antics for everybody! Heidi
also LOVES her squeaky toys, and she'll bring them all out
in a big pile to play with them. Then she'll entertain
herself by tossing the toys in air to catch them herself!
It's pretty funny to watch her! She'll also fetch toys if
you throw them, and she'll drop the toy so you can throw it
again. Heidi loves belly rubs, ear scratches, and hugs,
and loves to be
brushed. Everybody who meets Heidi, falls for her. :-)
How could you not fall for a dog like this? She's
incredible!
Heidi has good crate behavior and is THRILLED to meet
people! She joyfully comes over to visitors for pats and
snuggles. Her little ears perk up and her tail wags every
time you say her name - her foster Mom swears you can see
Heidi smile then! She comes running when you call her name
or say "come," which is always wonderful. Heidi enjoys food
and treats, and likes to take rides in the car, too.
This is one heck of a nice dog, and we are thrilled to be
able to help find her a home. Her foster Mom says she is
absolutely adorable in every way! If you like a happy,
joyful, sprightly dog to live with, one who wants to share
a deep bond with you, who enjoys people more than most, who
also happens to be an adorable "Pocket Shepherd," you
simply must meet this one! |
