Nika is a sweet, sweet longcoat White Shepherd.
She's also GORGEOUS! Nika came to GSRNE after being given up by
people who knew they couldn't care for her or her brother,
Moses anymore. In her former life, Nika was left loose outside
in a town in northern New England most of the time. She stayed
around the house because her brother was tied up there. But
Nika did get to come into part of the house once in awhile and
play with the resident children. When we got Nika, she was
filthy and very thin, hadn't seen a vet in 2 yrs, and she was
terrified of everything. She never showed any aggression to
anybody, though, and we had high hopes for her once she was
introduced to the world.
Now after a month in foster care, she's blossomed into a
wonderful creature, and her foster mom says "Who said Nika is
timid? She's not timid anymore!" Nika is friendly with people
she's met, and she enjoys going for walks in the snow with her
foster mom and foster "sister", another nice, gentle female
GSD. Nika can get along well with other gentle dogs and enjoys
their company, male or female. Super boinky, overwhelming dogs
might frighten her, but so far, she's getting along with other
dogs she's meeting. She is living in foster care with a cat,
but shows more interest in chasing the cat than we'd like to
see over time. So we'd prefer her to go to a home without cats.
Nika is a lovely, soft, responsive dog who is housebroken,
crate-trained, and just wants to be a good girl. She'd do best
with a moderate person who isn't loud and doesn't throw big
parties all the time, somebody who wouldn't be harsh with her.
Nika might be best off with another dog in the household, but
she might be ok as an only dog, too. She is a lovely, gentle
girl.
