Calli was a stray in New Hampshire for some time. Fending for herself, she would approach nearby houses to try to find food in their trash. The Animal Control Officer (ACO) desperately wanted to catch her and find her a new home and asked people to please feed her so that she would stick around long enough to be caught. Unfortunately, instead people would yell at Calli and throw things at her to make her go away. Calli's life was a sad one filled with angry people, hostility and hunger.

Eventually, the ACO was able to catch Calli and was amazed at what a wonderful soul she had. Though understandably leery of people, Calli looked forward to the daily visits she got from the ACO. But she was lonely and shelters are not good places for Shepherds so the ACO called GSRNE for help. We found Calli to be a wonderful girl though she was a little shutdown emotionally from her ordeal. We knew she needed to be in a loving home environment to overcome the months of living on her own.

Calli was soon placed in one of our foster homes where she would have the time needed to recover and learn how to live in a house again. She had
her kitty test, which she passed with flying colors.   The foster home did a terrific job with making her feel safe in their home and yard and soon she was able to be happy and comfortable.  She slowly came  out of her shell and became an active, playful girl.  It makes such a difference in building confidence to have a wonderful foster home work patiently with her.

Calli has something special about her....and everyone adored the way she crosses her legs when laying down. Calli's new mom and dad immediately fell in love with her (who wouldn't!).  They really like to do obedience and Calli is a girl who is smart and craves the work.  As Calli continued to come our of her shell, she began  to assert herself -- so she needed strong leadership to give Calli the guidance she needs. Working in obedience was the perfect outlet as s
he is intelligent and really wants to please. This lovely girl that was once lost has now found her perfect home!
