Kelley is a 9 month old longcoat female GSD. She came to
us when her owner's elderly parent needed cancer surgery and
elder care. Kelley is one of the brightest dogs we've met in
awhile! She's active, playful, and loves her family. She learns
things (good or bad!) very quickly and is looking for a home
where she gets to use her mind a bit. She will probably be the
leader of the dogs if you have more than one - she likes power.
:-) So you just need to be ready to remind her that you are
leader of the family - once she's clear on that, she's ready to
be your 2nd in command.
She gets along with friendly dogs and enjoys them, but
sometimes is a little scared up front. She's currently living
with a Golden Retriever and they get along well. She's not a
friend of the cats, though! She REALLY wants to chase them!
Kelley can exhibit insecure behaviors sometimes like some barkiness at strangers who appear suddenly, but this can be
managed fairly easily. Like all GSDs, she does well with
somebody who takes charge of situations and behaves like a
leader, giving her guidance on HOW to behave. Her foster family
has done some good work on this with her. A structured routine
and clear 2-way communication with her does the trick!
This little dog is a sweetie with the family and she is looking
for her "forever home" - is that with you? If so, ask about
Kelley!
