When you're looking for a dog to share your life with, what attributes are
most important to you? How about friendly, playful, well-behaved, doesn't jump
on people? How about also "very stable," "stately," and "very German Shepherd
Dog!"
If these are attributes that you are looking for in your next dog, take a look
at Jessie! Jessie's story started out sadly. Her owners tied her to a post with
a bowl of water, and abandoned her there. The local Animal Control Officer took
Jessie in and treated her kindly, but nobody adopting a dog from there at that
time was looking at adult/Senior dogs over those weeks, and no local resources
could be found to help a Senior GSD. Jessie's prospects looked dim and a
euthanasia date for running out of time was sadly set. But a neighboring Animal
Control Officer called GSRNE for help. Many thanks to those wonderful ACO's
involved who were trying so hard for Jessie!
When we met Jessie at the shelter, we LOVED her! What a spectacular dog! She was
in a bit of rough shape when we got her: thin, full of hookworms, a urinary
tract infection, a malnutrition problem, etc. But we could see the gem of a dog
shining through all of that. She didn't seem to care that humans had neglected
her physical well-being - she has a solid temperament, played with us, and
behaved herself quite well.
Jesse moved into her GSRNE foster home as if she'd lived there all her life. She
seems unaffected by her life's ordeal. And now that her health problems have
been addressed, she looks and feels great! She walks on leash nicely, she
listens to her foster family's commands, lives happily with a regular working
day routine, and she is living with 2 cats without incident. She carries
herself regally, and she loves to play ball with you. After some nice
interaction and/or play, she hangs out in the evenings with you, just enjoying
you and your companionship.
Jesse's hip x-rays showed she should only have low - moderate activity, like
many of us in our golden years. She is not in any pain but should be kept on
supplements to help her joints
Who knows why somebody would abandon a fabulous dog like this!
.But their bad
decision could mean a great adoption for you!!! Ask us about Jessie!
