Jake's Buddy says,

Have no fear, Jake is here! If you are looking for a confident dog you've found him.  Jake is a keenly intelligent, handsome, regal dog who reveals his loving, well-mannered side to those he trusts. Strong, but fairly good on leash, Jake is interested in the world and is seeking to make a connection to someone.

An 8-9 year old male,  Jake was turned into a local shelter because his owner's were moving. The shelter workers loved Jake, and called us because he was falling apart at the shelter.   This is typical of most German Shepherds: they do very poorly in shelter environments since they are bred to place a high value on their territory and have a strong desire to live as part of a family.

Loyal, loving and large, Jake is a really big boy at 121 lbs. Though he will always be an impressive male, he will benefit from a continued high quality diet to get back in top condition, as well as a moderate exercise program. He loves to play with his Kong or have short bouts of playing ball with you which will help.

Jake is so smart that he's bi-lingual! He knows basic commands in German and English as the former owner and her children preferred to talk to him in German when out in public. Jake likes to meet new people and receive a pat on his head and then is off to do his own exploring.

Jake will turn the heads of all those seeking a German Shepherd, however Shepherds are working dogs, with the need for a strong, firm and fair leader.  When greeting his person, Jake will dance with joy and tends to jump in his excitement but he doesn't use enough force to knock you over - he is gentle in a Jake sort of way.

Jake has good house manners, loves being in the yard when his people are out puttering, and only barks to let you know there is a visitor at the door or someone is coming near your yard.  Jake loves his own bed and does not tend to get on furniture.  He adores rides in the car, going for walks, being an attentive and constant companion and being close to the people he loves.  Jake loves to put his head in your lap and tuck his head under your arm for affection.  He is a very cuddly boy...and what a dog to cuddle!
